I accidentally dropped the impulse casting of the Enterprise NCC-1701-A model. Since the piece was made from extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemly brittle resin, it broke into about 30 pieces that could not even be glued back together with superglue! |

A replacement part would have cost $70 plus shipping, so I decided to built a new (and stronger) part from scratch: 
From the original part I only used the clear dome part. The impulse ingines were later rebuilt from acrylics and black masking tape. I have now heard of 6 or 7 model builders with broken impulse drive castings.
