Before I put the two halves of the Millennium Falcon model together, I glued 1" diameter tubes between them. (1" = 2.54 cm) These tubes not only gave the construction more strength, but would later also serve as mounting points. (the original ILM model had 6 mounting points to mount it for blue screen shooting: in the front, the back, the top, the bottom and on both sides, right where the "escape pods" are.)

I then installed the 6 CPU cooling fans in the back of the Millennium Falcon model.

After gluing the two halves together I mounted the Millennium Falcon model from the bottom (which not only looks cool :-) ), but also comes in handy because you can turn it 360 degrees to work on it).
